Or, Why I Should Try To Avoid Ordering From Amazon Prime, Especially On Amazon Prime Day

I’m one of those people who actually reads the “Quick Start” instructions. Yep. And I’ll have you know that I was stumped in short order as part of the directions for my shiny new stainless steel coffee maker commanded me to press the “Brew Now” button. Uh huh. Something is definitely wrong with this picture (see above).

Why I Need To Step Away From My Prime

So I fell for it. I fell for one of those Amazon Prime Days. Recently, our coffeemaker had gotten wet from a leak in our kitchen after a night of heavy rain. I had left the appliance plugged in and felt uneasy about drying it out and then trying to use it again. So I decided to chuck it. But not before replacing it, of course. Who would dare to go a couple of days (or even one if they able to click One-Day Shipping) without coffee?

So I happened to notice that Amazon Prime day was starting in only a few hours, as the app revealed with its ticker countdown. So I held out and anticipated a wondrous experience, as I was made to believe by the image of the brown box with multicolored confetti spraying out from it. There was no need to panic. A deal was on the horizon, the road lay in front of me…
